Unseen Amsterdam Photography Fair

The solo presentation of Ali Tahayori by THIS IS NO FANTASY Gallery, Melbourne was listed as the top ten highlights of Unseen Amsterdam Photography Fair by Marketing Tribune.

Every year, the Unseen photography fair in Amsterdam brings together galleries and publishers of photo books from both the Netherlands and abroad. Our image expert and trend forecaster, Klaus van den Berg, is making his traditional selection of the top ten highlights of this year and providing brief commentary for the exhibition.
This year, what stands out is the emergence of the photo trend 'radical intimacy,' which presents itself as the natural successor to the earlier popular theme of 'radical identity.' The latter theme has dominated art photography in recent years, partly due to the heated societal debates surrounding it. Many commercial photographers found their source of income in the available budgets and subsidies for visualizing the modern 'radical identity.' They were awarded prizes and gained recognition at various fairs.
On the other hand, the emerging photo trend of 'radical intimacy' sheds light on the personal inner world of the photographer. The selected art photographers, chosen based on their 'stopping power,' visualize their own mental microcosm. This can radically resonate or not resonate with the viewers and buyers at Unseen 2023.
